Do you want to help grow the business while ensuring technical excellence of deliverables?

If you have the drive and desire to work for a growing global organisation focused on connecting the best people to the best work, then we want to hear from you!

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Principal Contaminated Land Specialist to join our New South Wales Contaminated Land Management team based from our Sydney office. Reporting directly to the NSW Contaminated Land Management Team Lead, you will play a pivotal technical leadership role for NSW, with opportunities to support teams nationally. This position involves technical direction, project management, and client relationship responsibilities within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and business development professionals.

The following key responsibilities will be expected from a candidate considered for this role:

  • Be a technical leader, while managing contaminated land assessment and regulatory compliance projects, ensuring high standards in technical direction, peer review, and co-authoring of complex deliverables.
  • Oversee a portfolio of projects, providing guidance and mentorship to project teams and fostering skills development within the contaminated land management group.
  • Serve as Client Account Manager (CAM) for key NSW clients, ensuring consistent client satisfaction, repeat business, and revenue growth.
  • Contribute to the strategic vision of the contaminated land management team and strategically expand the NSW portfolio by actively engaging in cross-selling and fostering strong client relationships.
  • Resolve challenging technical issues independently and as a leader, providing expert advice and serving as a regional technical resource.
  • Direct complex project proposals, coordination, and technical assessments, including high-level consultations and expert witness testimony.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced leader to drive technical excellence, expand client relationships, and contribute to business growth in contaminated land management across NSW and beyond.

About You

You bring extensive experience in delivering contaminated land assessment and remediation projects across diverse sectors for both public and private clients. You possess strong knowledge of National and State Contaminated Land Management Regulations, including UPSS and Development Approvals, and have a successful record of guiding projects through planning approvals to achieve effective remediation and validation outcomes with regulatory and auditor approvals. Your background includes collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team, working closely with engineering and environmental professionals.

Desired Attributes/Credentials

  • Degree in Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in environmental consulting, with expertise in complex contaminated land projects; experience with Defence projects is highly regarded.
  • Proven skills in verbal communication, technical report writing, and peer review.
  • Strong leadership in health and safety practices.
  • Recognised industry certifications (e.g., CEnvP Site Contamination Specialist) or active progression towards such credentials.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure repeat business or develop new client relationships.
