Kleinfelder Australia is on the lookout for a Senior Ecologist who is BAM Accredited or would like to become BAM Accredited to join our Newcastle or Sydney operations. If you are passionate about ecology, thrive in a supportive and high-performing environment, and want to work on a wide range of impactful projects, we want to hear from you!

Why join us?

With a strong backlog of diverse ecological work, you will hit the ground running alongside our team of talented ecologists, scientists, engineers, and planners. You will have the opportunity to receive mentorship, learn and collaborate closely with multiple BAM Accredited professionals and highly experienced botanists.

What you will be doing:

  • Manage and deliver your own portfolio of ecological projects.
  • Lead field assessments and ensure safety and compliance.
  • Prepare detailed proposals, BDARs, BSSARs, and technical reports.
  • Guide clients through environmental legislation and approval pathways.
  • Contribute to innovations in ecological survey techniques.

Who you are:

  • Preferably BAM Accredited Ecologist or a Senior Ecologist with ambitions to become accredited.
    • Not yet BAM accredited but close? If you have delivered BDARs and are motivated to achieve the accreditation, we would still love to hear from you. A tailored salary package aligned with your experience will be considered.
  • Strong botany and fauna ID skills and a deep understanding of NSW biodiversity regulations.
  • Proven experience delivering ecological assessments and gaining regulatory approvals.
  • Skilled in preparing BDARs, BSSARs, and vegetation integrity plots.
  • Excellent communicator with strong report writing.
  • Degree-qualified in Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related field.

What We Offer:

  • Flexibility, hybrid working arrangements available.
  • Additional leave options, including public holiday swaps and purchased leave.
  • Paid parental leave and overtime (per policy).
  • Mentoring from senior botanist and BAM-accredited ecologists.
  • Career development support, study assistance, and internal/external training.
  • Employee Assistance Program.
  • Kleinfelder Employee recognition and rewards programs.
