The Opportunity

As our national success and growth continues an opportunity has arisen in Queensland for a talented and suitably qualified mid-level Environmental Consultant (EMAC) to join our Environmental Management, Approvals and Compliance team in our Brisbane office. We are looking for an experienced individual who is able to undertake a variety of environmental approvals and compliance projects, and work closely with our specialist team of ecology, bushfire, heritage, geotechnical and contaminated land consultants.

 

The Role

  • Full time role, however, consideration will be given to part-time working arrangements. We offer flexible working patterns and reward schemes for our staff.
  • Reports to the QLD Area Manager.
  • Coordinates the day-to-day management of clients, project teams and specialist sub-consultants.
  • Provides direction to more junior EMAC staff to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Provide high quality technical reports including environmental impact assessments and management plans to a broad range of clients across the private sector and at all levels of government.
  • Represent Kleinfelder at an industry level by participating in external forums and has, or is, working towards membership of professional institutions.
  • Work competently and safely by complying with relevant H&S requirements, including internal Kleinfelder and external client procedures.

About you

We are looking for an individual who is able to demonstrate suitable prior experience in the technical delivery of a variety of environmental planning and approvals, environmental impact assessment and environmental compliance/management projects across a range of market sectors, including but not limited to, Renewable Energy, Urban Development, Mining and Aggregates, Infrastructure, Defence, and Education and Health. Candidates should possess a working knowledge and practical application of the QLD environmental legislation and procedures with respect to planning and approvals processes and be experienced in the coordination of sub-consultants and management of projects from project conception and through the approval process. Experience in environmental compliance, management plans and reporting, in another relevant environmental field, will also be considered if suitable experience in planning and environmental approvals can be demonstrated.

 

Desired Attributes/Credentials

  • Degree in environmental planning, science, or environmental engineering
  • 3-6 years’ experience
  • Experience in preparing and obtaining environmental and planning approvals in Queensland.
  • Preparation of environmental management plans and technical reports
  • Experience in the development of proposals
  • Experience with transport and energy projects
  • Ideally experience with water and defence projects
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain client relationships
  • Experience with social impacts and/or stakeholder engagement
  • Working in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ideally experience in other jurisdictions (NSW, VIC, SA, WA)
